It's all about the location and DIY crafts

Brides know, that one of the most important things in a wedding is the right location. An average wedding is planned a year in advance to make sure all details are right. And making sure your location is available for your date. So a year is a good amount of time to secure your perfect location. As you know i planned my wedding in a month. So getting my dream location was nearly impossible.

Note: The reason we planned our wedding in such a short amount of time was because, I was going to be receiving my sacraments. Since we were already married but in a civil union, we needed to have our marriage blessed in the church. More on that another time.

I had my heart set on a barn. It was so fitting for our theme, and i just thought it would be so beautiful. Before i go into details about that, I want to share how I found my location in such a short time. When we decided to go for it, I set a time limit.

The First Week.

I dedicated the first week to finding a location. The location of my dreams had to have TREES and lots of GREEN.It had to be outdoors, nothing fancy, but with a lot of character, and had to be affordable! At first I looked into my barn, which wasn’t available for our date. While in search for a venue, my husband and I attended a party and it was at a girl scouts day camp. It was beautiful. Plenty of trees and greenery! So much natural elements that I loved. But that too, was not available. After a couple days of searching online, even driving around trying to scout the perfect place. I started to lose hope. I found myself on the web and came across this old village. It had a german charm to it. Old buildings surrounding the main location. IT WAS SO CUTE! I continued to look into it. It was outdoors, had trees, and tons of character. It had string lights coming from the trees and gazebo. Hanging lanterns on the trees were beautiful as well. It was available for our date and it was totes affordable! This was the one.

We ended up booking with Old World Village in Huntington Beach, Ca.

The staff was incredibly helpful. Lisa, the event coordinator was seriously the best! She answered all my questions, and i had a lot of them! Everyone at Old World was so nice and easy to work with. I definitely would recommend them! Here are a few pictures of the Gazebo and patio area where we had our reception.

So i didn’t get my dream barn, but I did find something as beautiful. So remember when looking for your location, try looking outside the box. Have an open mind when searching for a location. Hope this helped! Good luck future brides!

With Love,
