I got the idea for this craft at Paradise Praises. I thought it would be great for the girls – neither of whom can read yet – to have something to help them remember the message of the gospel. I cut out blocks of felt, and stitched them together to make a book.
Each colour has a specific meaning attached to it:
Black = our sin
Red = Jesus’ blood
White = forgiveness and a clean heart
Purple = our adoption into God’s royal family
Blue = the baptism of believers
Green = growing our faith through prayer and reading the Bible
Yellow = eternity in heaven
I’d forgotten that Angie learned this at Sunday school last year, and I was impressed that she remembered what the colours stood for. Emmy was more interested in playing with the book than learning the colours’ meanings.
This is a great tool for teaching young children to share the gospel message. They can practice on siblings, other family members, even their toys. It’s never too early to prepare them for sharing their faith.
