Breastfed baby bottle Review 2017

Hi everyone!! I have 7 bottles that my husband and I tried with our exclusively breastfed son, that I wanted to review for you all! Our son did not want to take a bottle! This was something completely new to us! Our other two children took a baby bottle with no difficulty. They just took whatever bottle we gave them.  Without further delay here are the bottles we tried/ reviewed.

  1. Dr.  Brown’s – it’s great because it helps with reducing colic, gas, and spit up.  Cons: too many pieces to assemble and wash.
  2. Munchkin Latch- Pro: not many pieces, nipple moves like a breast, I like the wide neck. Con: breast milk fat gets caught in accordion neck so can be annoying to clean.
  3. Tommee Tippee- Pro: not too many pieces to assemble, the nipple is shaped like a breast and it feels soft. Con: the anti colic milk valve you have to squeeze/ pinch to make sure air is able to exit before you assemble the bottle for use.
  4. Nuk- pro: the nipple is so soft and it has many holes for the milk to come out of like a breast does.
  5. Mam-Pro: it self sterilizes. Cons: the nipple was too short for baby to latch onto.
  6. Mimijumi- Pro: you can screw on the nipple with one hand, it doesn’t have many pieces (nipple, bottle, slip resistant base), anti-colic holes are built within the nipple, and it looks like a breast in color. The company has great customer service.  Con: the nipple felt like rubber, it may look like some people’s breast in color, but it definitely did not feel like a breast. Our baby just did not like it. This bottle is expensive compared to other bottles, however they do have a 100% money back guarantee if your baby doesn’t like the bottle.
  7. Lansinoh Momma- Pro: only three pieces, easy to clean, nipple moves like a real nipple in the mouth, baby latches onto it like a when baby latches onto breast, and OUR BABY LIKES IT!!

Our baby prefers to breastfeed, but when he can’t, we use the Lansinoh Momma.

Tips for getting your breastfed baby to take a bottle:

  • Let someone other than mom feed the baby with the bottle until the baby gets used to it.
  • Start after 4 weeks of exclusively breastfeeding, when breastfeeding is Well established.
  • Use the nipple of the bottle to touch the baby’s lip like you would with your breast. Let the baby open their mouth for it.
  • Do not be in the room when Dad/ friend/ or other caregiver is trying to give baby the bottle. Since baby can smell you!
  • Try when baby is partially sleep, and then sneak the bottle in.
  • Do not wait until baby is so hungry he or she is screaming and upset. If this occurs just nurse and try again when your baby is showing signs of hunger.
  • Pay attention to what your baby’s latch looks like on you, then go to YouTube and fine videos on bottles you want to try and see how other babies latch look like when using named bottle.
  • If none of these work and your desperate you could always feed baby via syringe.  You can also get help from an International board certified Lactation Consultant.

Hope this helps! Be blessed finding a bottle that works for you and your family!! Please let me know if you have any questions! Leave it in the comments! Take care!!
