Easter Bath Fizzies and DIY crafts

Hey everybody! It’s been such a crazy week even though I’ve been on holiday. And I’m on holiday (in part) because it’s nearly Easter! The only trouble at this time of year is that’s it’s incredibly hard to keep the chocolate-eating down to a minimum, so in an effort to do so I’ve made some alternative Easter eggs – Bath bombs.

If you’d like to see how I made them, keep reading.

The great thing about these is that they are made using ingredients that are pretty standard in any pantry cupboard. The recipe calls for a ½ cup of citric acid, a cup of bicarbonate of soda, ¾ of a cup of corn flour and a ¼ cup of castor sugar to be sieved into a mixing bowl. A few drops of food colouring and essential oil (I used Bergamot) to be mixed with a small amount of water and then either sprayed with a spray bottle, flicked with a paintbrush or otherwise added to the dry mixture in such a way that only a very little is added and the liquid doesn’t cause the bicarb to fizz too much. Combine all the ingredients and keep adding the liquid until it reaches a damp sand-like consistency. I then moulded the mixture into half egg shapes using a Kinder Joy shell and turned them out on a dish to dry overnight. I chose to decorate some of them using a paintbrush and some diluted food colouring, since I used a gel colour. These can then be packed into an egg carton for safe storage.

I thought that these would make a lovely gift for those who are trying to stay away from the more traditional Easter eggs since unfortunately a Faberge is out of the question.
