Gaming Chair - Latest Update and DIY crafts

It’s been a while since my last update. Between work and looking for a new car, I’ve been pretty busy. But with the long Easter weekend, I’ve finally found some time. :D

A few weeks back I fitted some additional support blocks and some 75mm castors.

The Castors are bolted through the square pieces I fastened below the main uprights.

Yesterday I made up the rear back piece to the chair. It is a simple rectangular piece which has been screwed and glued for strength. In order to make it as secure as I could, I notched the wood at its end so everything slotted together.

Notched and ready for fitting.

Slotted together and drying. One side is recessed to stop me banging my head on a wooden bar every time I lean back.

With the back rest made, I attached side bars for the seat base to the arm boxes. These like the rest were glued and screwed, but I also used a couple of furniture bolts so provide extra strength. (No pics sorry!)

After this I lined up the back rest at the correct angle and notched it to sit flush against the seat box with the side bar recessed into it.

Notching achieved (rather messily) with a 1/4 router.

With the back rest notched and, it was finally time to start fastening some of the sections together. It was easiest to fasten one side first and then line the other side up to match. Once again, I used furniture bolts as well as screws to secure everything.

Once both sides were securely fastened, I added a rear cross bar for the seat base and called it a day!

Work so far...

So that’s that for now. I’ll get some more updates up soon!
