Lactation cookies.

Oh how I envy those mamas with an abundance of liquid gold AKA breast-milk. Not all of us naturally make overflowing rivers of milk and I am one of those women. I have always had trouble keeping up my milk supply and even when I do its always just enough to feed my babies, no milk stash for this mama.

Every few months my daughter will start to nurse every 2 hrs again and always seems unsatisfied after nursing when this starts to happen no need to worry I just whip up a batch of my cookies!

What ingredients in these cookies help you produce milk and why? First off the oats have always been a well known milk booster for their high iron content. Second the Brewers yeast, it is most commonly known for being in wine and beer but it actually contains alot of good for you things. It has protien, iron, B vitamins and most importantly galactagogue which on top of the iron is our milk helper in this ingredient. Third is the flax seed oil which has phytoestrogens that aid’s in milk production.

Let jump into how to make these delicious cookies:

Makes about 27 cookies

Ingredients:

4 tbsp water

2 tbsp flax seed meal

1 cup butter at room temp.

1 cup stevia sugar

2 lg eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups whole wheat flour

1 tsp baking soda

2 tbsp brewers yeast

1 tsp salt

3 cups oats

1 cup chocolate/white chocolate chips ( or how ever many you want)

1 small bowl

1 medium bowl

1 large bowl

  1. Pre heat oven to 350°F while the oven warms up…
  2. In small bowl mix flax and water together and set aside
  3. In large bowl cream together butter and stevia. It will almost have cottage cheese looking consistency.
  4. Add one egg at a time and mix well.
  5. Stir flax mixture and vanilla into the butter mix, beat until well blended.
  6. In medium bowl mix together all your dry ingredients (brown sugar, flour, baking soda, salt,Brewers yeast) except oats and chips.
  7. Pour your dry ingredients into your wet ingredients a little at a time mixing in between.
  8. When all your wet and dry ingredients are well combined start to mix in your oats one cups at a time.
  9. When your oats are mixed in nicely start to pour in as many chips as you would like.
  10. Make little balls and bake for 10 mins.

ENJOY!! 😊
