New blog look and deep cleaning! and DIY crafts

Hey all!

Today I am showing my off my new blog look and vision! I am so excited about this revamp, it’s something I’ve considered for a while and I finally decided to take the plunge! I’ll be delving into fashion, DIY, food, and beauty, and best of all I wont be alone in this! I’ll be featuring models of different ages, sizes, and ethnicities!

Today will be about DIY!

I’ve wanted to clean our washing machine for quite a while and have seriously neglected it.. like seriously, you’ll see! Our Landlady is gracious enough to share her washing machine with us, so I decided to exchange the favor with a good scrub!

Now, I know washing machine cleaning tips and tricks abound on Pinterest. BUT, I thought, what’s one more added to the pile? ;) First I scoured the internet for ideas, then finally decided on mixing a couple together! This is for a top loading washing machine only.

Step 1. Set your washing machine on the largest load, hottest water, and longest cycle setting. Start washing machine, but do not close lid. Add 1 cup of bleach straight into the machine drum, not your bleach dispenser. Let washing machine fill all the way up and soak 45min-1hr. During this waiting period I dusted and cleaned the outside of the washing machine.

This what my machine looked like after 1 hour of soaking. One word, Ick. The previously clear water turned a murky shade of brown.

Step 2. SCRUB. I got a big bristle brush and some rubber gloves and scrubbed, scrubbed, scrubbed. Also, take apart your softener thingy in the middle and scrub all around!

Step 3. After scrubbing and replacing the softener dispenser (dispenser, that’s the word I was looking for!) after you cleaned it, close the lid and let the machine run through the cycle.

Step 4. When the washer finishes the first cycle, start another cycle but this time a short cycle and add 1 cup of vinegar, close the lid and let it do its thing. When its finished it should look sparkly clean and smell so fresh!

Happy Cleaning!
