Organizing toddlers school work and DIY crafts

Collage 2015-02-13 14_59_35

I made this school activity box two weeks ago, and it has indeed served its purpose. Her school work was previously displayed on the wall and it looked a little messy and her constant self decoration tactics seemed pointless. So i cooked up this DIY box.

What you need:

  • wrapping paper

  • clear tape

  • cardboard box

  • scissors

  • paper

  • ribbon

Instructions:

1. Find a box at any supermarket (Nakumat has stacks for packing groceries) just be sure to decide on the shape and size.

2. The box comes with four closure sides, cut off the small closures so you have the two larger closures for tying the box.

3. Wrap the box up and fold over the remaining wrapping paper into the box.

TIP: Use the clear tape to hold the wrapping paper in place

4. Once satisfied with the fitting, Stick your paper on and write whatever you want on it, run the clear tape row by row all around the box. Making sure you don’t leave any open spaces, remember to do the same underneath.

5. Punch in holes on the top closures, inset the ribbon and tie it

AND YOU’RE DONE…

The reason why i use clear tape instead of just leaving the wrapping paper as it is, is that it tears up, kids can ripe it off and it basically lasts much much longer. It gives you a more glossy look and neat finish. Kyla loves it and every Friday she runs straight to her activity box and puts her weeks work in there. Whenever she feels like admiring her artwork she can always bring out her box and tidy up after.
