Recently I had the pleasure of visiting the Makers Market at West Didsbury for the first time. It takes place on the last Sunday of each month and can be found on the corner of Nell Lane and Burton Road, in the car park of Withington Community Hospital. We parked on the other side of the hospital and even as we approached we see the smoke rising from the food stalls and could smell the incredible aromas. Even though I’d eaten a ridiculous amount the night before I knew I’d have to sample some of the food. I had a ginormous bratwurst from Al’s BBQ Shack, and a Caramac cup cake from Alex’s Bakery served by the most polite and pleasant young lad. Besides food there was also an abundance of arts and crafts from some incredibly talented people. Unlike other markets there were alcoholic drinks available and music playing which all added to a great atmosphere, despite the fact that it wasn’t the warmest day. I’m reliably informed that it does a roaring trade on a hot summer’s day, although it was pretty busy on this day. Check out some of my photos from that day:
