Upon fall, trees are set ablaze in vivid color. Maples simmer in orange heat, birches streak with yellow flames, and grand oaks loom in bursts of red.
I love all hues, striking in itself and vibrant all together. Autumn’s beauty truly astounds me, as well as its feisty aura. Wondrous are the colors that dance in wild arrays before withering away. Through this project, I hope to savor fall’s magnificence. Perhaps I can make the radiance immortal?
Supplies: leaves, paper of own choice, glue, scissors/razors, ruler
Step I: Collect and preserve leaves. You can place them in books or between thick sheets of paper. It is recommended that you to add pressure by supplying weight upon them, as it prevents wrinkles. When you have secured your arrangement, let it be for a few weeks. The paper will drain the leaves of moisture, leaving them fully preserved. However, this is a time consuming process. Check back in at least two weeks.
Note: The paper you use to dry the leaves will become wrinkled because of the moisture. Therefore, think it through before if you decide to use a book. A phone book can be a good option.
Step II: Decide what you would like to make. Decors? Bookmarks? Cards? That is up to you. I used my leaves to decorate a side of a cabinet, but I am thinking to transform them into bookmarks. As you can see, my leaves are pasted upon paper. If you decide to do the same, be creative and find diverse materials, patterns, textures, and shapes. You can use one book pages, colorful sheets, newsprint, etc. as a source of backgrounds.
Step III: Be proud.
