diy flower crowns 🌹 and DIY crafts

I know we still have a few more weeks until Spring officially starts, but I’m pretty much done with winter. I guess will always be a Florida girl at heart.

I’m ready for Spring to come so we can do our landscaping and backyard with some simple ideas I’ve found on Pinterest. Spring also means yard sale season! Yay!

This diy is definitely Spring inspired. What I have today is how I’ve made my flower crowns. They’ve become pretty popular accessories lately for festivals, weddings, or just for fun.

Over the weekend I babysat a toddler and I saw I had enough supplies from making flower crowns last summer to make one for her while she napped.

Here’s what you will need:

– wire & wire cutters

– floral tape

– flowers of your choice

– ribbon

– hot glue gun

– felt (color of your choice)

How to make your crown:

1) Measure your head

It’s pretty easy to measure your own head, or your friend’s, but while babysitting I realized Juliette wasn’t going to sit around for me. So I followed behind her as she made her rounds around the house. I eventually got it.

Once you’ve got a size for your crown, just twist the wire around a bit to hold in place.

2) Wrap your wire

Like I said, you can buy wire that is already covered. You can find it in the floral section of Michaels, but I had wire and floral tape handy. This part will take the longest.

So I did this and watched TV while Juliette was napped.

3) Wrap ribbon

I wrapped the ribbon around the crown and made sure I left enough extra to hang behind.

4) Glue on flowers

I pulled my flowers off the stems and trimmed them. If you’re using different types of flowers, plan out where you want everything, then hot glue to the crown.

5) Felt covers

For the last step, I cut out felt circles to cover the glue on the back of the flower. It will make your finished product look cleaner and feel nicer on your head.

The next challenge was trying to get a picture with it on her head. I wasn’t too successful, but here she is wearing it for 1.4 seconds.

In the end, Juliette wore it around the house and kept it on for her mommy to see.

Successful day of babysitting, I’d say.

Here are some others crowns I’ve made before:

There are plenty of tutorials on Pinterest and options for flower crowns made with real flowers for special occasions like weddings. They’re gorgeous!
