Ugh. Getting back into decorating cookies or cakes is going to be hard.
The cookies tasted really good. To me they look awful. I think my icing was too thin. I’d love to try another batch, but I was lucky enough that my daughter slept through me baking the first batch.
I’ve only used royal icing a few times and didn’t care for it. I do love decorating so I’m torn. I wasn’t perfect beautiful cookies you see on Pinterest but, it’s like my brain and hand were not working as one.
I am fighting an urge to go back into the kitchen and try again. I started this morning with this beautiful image in my head of how they would turn out. That my cookies would be splendid, everyone would love them and want to try one.
Unfortunately after making sure I had all of my supplies, going grocery shopping with a toddler and being my sister’s personal taxi. This did not happen.
Don’t get me wrong, I know I could’ve done much worse.
I just have to remember practice makes perfect, I shouldn’t expect perfection on the first try in years. (Yet somewhere deep down inside I do, one of my biggest downfalls.)
I’m hoping maybe I can make another batch another time to keep practicing.
