I’ve always had a weird (read: morbid) obsession with skulls. I have skull t-shirts, skull sweaters, skull rings, even a Betsey Johnson skull key chain! I don’t know what it is about them, I just think they make for such an edgy, modern look, especially when juxtaposed with girly, colourful things like pink flowers.
I had so much fun thinking of cute, unexpected ways to repurpose my skull! I love the idea of using it as a vase to hold flowers or anything else that might need organizing. It looks so much more modern, edgy and interesting than a regular vase, plus you’re saving money by finding two uses for one purchase.
Reusing old items is such a great way to add some fresh new décor to your home on a dime. And did I mention it’s so fun?!

- Add a pop of pretty, feminine colour to your skull with some pink and purple tulips!
- I bought these fake (shh don’t tell!) cherry blossom stems from the dollar store for $1.25. I love the look of white blooms juxtaposed with the skull – it looks super fresh and modern.
- Stick a candle in your skull for an unconventional way to light up your room! This will look even more romantic and antiquated once the wax starts to drip down the sides and dry.
- Fill your skull with some of your favourite candies! I love how the sparkly, silver wrappers of these Hershey’s Kisses look inside the skull.
- Fill your skull with water and a couple of drops of the watercolour paint of your choice for a vibrant look.
- Little Bunnie always wants to help out with my DIYs! This look was probably my favourite of all. I simply placed some old, messy paintbrushes in the skull and it made for such an artistic, rustic look!
