Natural Probiotics...Make your own! and DIY crafts

With the new fad in the supplement industry being probiotics, I feel the need to address it.

I do think that the marketing of probiotics is great. We should all know and be aware of their benefits. However, I personally believe that optimal health can be achieved through one’s diet, without the use of supplements.

Since probiotics are a hot topic in the nutrition and fitness industries I am going to write a little bit about them.

Probiotics are good bacteria that help your gut to maintain healthy. More recent studies have been focusing on the effects that our gut flora has on our health. The gut flora works together with our immune system. One of its jobs is to not let any intruders or “bad guys” pass through into our system. If there is an invader then the immune system is triggered. If our gut flora is not healthy, and constantly has to fight off the bad guys it eventually wears down and does not provide the immunity you would like it to.

That being said, there are great benefits to including probiotics in your diet. The best part is, you can make them yourself with fermented foods! I listed three different sources of probiotics below.
