Today’s weather just couldn’t make its mind up, one minute it was snowing and the next we had blue skies and winter sun! The plants were all huddled under a layer of snow and the birds were busy raiding the bird feeders and darting back to their nests in the big bushy conifers. There was no sign of any sheep on the snowy hills at the back of our house and everything had a couple of inches of snow on it. The snow on the fence around our back yard is glistening like diamonds in the sunlight and I love the way the snow has a hint of pale blue. It’s weather for staying in wrapped up warm and I’ve been making little fabric and crochet flags for mini bunting to sell on our market stall and for the online shop. The flags are roughly about 4 inches across although the crochet ones may be a little wider. I’m going to alternate the flags, one crochet, one fabric, another crochet and so on. I want to have about 12 flags on each length of bunting. I have to make more crochet flags but they’re a quick and easy thing to do when you not got a lot of time so I’ll just keep making them here and there when I have short amounts of spare time. I’ve become quite addicted to crocheted bobble edging! I’ve sewn the vintage fabric flags and so now I’ve just got to crochet a bobble edge on them. I’ve many more fabric flags than you can see here so I think it will be a labour of love! I’m also making a new range of mini bunting from some of the gorgeous new fabrics that arrived at The Vintage Quilt this month. These flags will be a little larger at 4.5 inches across when they’re all sewn and there will be 6 flags in a small length and 12 flags in a large length. I’ve cut all the fronts and the plain colour backs so now I just have to sew them together and sew them into binding tape. When I’ve made them up, they’ll be available on our market stall and in our online store.
Well that’s almost all for now except to say thank you to Homemaker Magazine who have featured some of our fabrics in ‘5 Fabrics We Love’ on page 57 of this months mag!
I’m off now for a cup of tea and a feet up on the sofa with the husband and Poppy. Bye for now. :) x
