Snowman felt board and DIY crafts

snowman felt boardI’m in love with advent calendars. So when it was time to prepare for last years Christmas season it was a pleasure to make an advent calendar for my daughter. The calendar itself was more about activities than things, and the snowman felt board was one of them. She still likes to create snowmen with this set.

MATERIALS + TOOLS

  • a felt sheet for background

  • a sheet of white felt for snow and snowballs

  • pieces of colored felt sheets for accessories

  • scissors

  • [background sized piece of cardboard]

  • [glue stick]

Use a glue stick to fix the felt background on a piece of cardboard. I recommend it for younger children who may have a bit hard time keeping all the felt pieces where they want them to be. Take a sheet of white felt and cut out snowballs for the snowman. Use scraps of colored feld sheets to add the accessories you want – hats, scarfs, sticks etc. Done!

PLAY IDEAS

  • Order snowballs by size.

  • Think 3D – how does a snowman look like from above?

  • Build vocabulary by cutting out various accessories for the snowman – hats and caps, helmets, scarfs and ties.

  • Make it a travel game! Usa a ziplock bag to take the snowman along to places where you have to sit and wait for a long time. You can skip the cardboard to make it more travel friendly.
