An uploader named uhjess on imgur recently posted some fantastic, tutorial like pictures featuring the process behind crafting the two main ‘Labyrinth’ characters, Sara and Jareth. According to the comments made by the uploader, a father wanted to buy some dolls for his daughter featuring Sara and Jareth in their arguably most memorable scene in the film, where the two characters are dancing together at a ball. Unable to find any, this dad decided to put all others to shame by making his own.
The dolls turned out wonderfully, with all the details put into careful consideration. From the make up done with paint, to the puffy sleeves, to even Jareth’s incredibly difficult hairstyle, it’s simply amazing what he was able to do with a few Barbies and some reference pictures.
Dad even goes the extra mile, putting the two dolls in faux official ‘Labyrinth’ style boxes.
They look wonderful, like actual commercialized merchandise. With all the attention, it’s a shame Jim Henson studios doesn’t have anything out there like this on sale. The cult classic is beloved by many fans who would no doubt love to shell out some cash for something so splendiferous. Unfortunately, the uploader has said no other dolls will be made or put up for sale, but feel free to use the pictures as a guide to make your own homemade editions.
