Hi everyone, recently I’ve been making candles at home with my old Glade candle jars. I just started making them in mason jars and it’s really a lot of fun, so I thought I would share it with you all!
What you need:
Soy Wax flakes (easy to find online or at Michael’s)
Mason Jar
Wick and Wick tabs (you can do this yourself, or you can buy pre-tabbed wicks on eBay)
Fragrance Oil
Candle Pourer
Hot Glue Gun
Chopsticks
Instructions
Step 1: Hot glue gun tabbed wicks to the bottom of the jar. Use something to keep the wick in place, I used chopsticks broken in half held together with rubber bands
Step 2: Portion out your scent, use one ounce of fragrance oil per pound of wax. I used this whole bottle, 1.86 oz, for a pound and three quarters of wax.
Step 3: Put a pot of water on the stove – wait for it to boil. Put wax flakes in the candle pourer and place inside the pot of boiling water.
Step 4: Wait for your wax to completely melt, so that it looks like this. Then pour fragrance in and mix with wax. When you feel that is its mixed well, take pourer out of water and put it to the side. Wait 20-30 minutes for the wax to cool enough to poor it into the jars.
Step 5: After 20-30 minutes, when the wax has the consistency of a 7/11 slushie, pour the wax into jars. When wax is set, after at least 5 hours, trim the wick to 1/4 inch. I like to wait 12 hours before I light my candle, just so I know that it is set.
Step 6: Enjoy your candle!
