To do: the cross craft (countdown to Easter)

We’ve been counting down to Easter and “breaking chains”.

We made a cross craft that we are going to hang on our window.

I took 2 jumbo craft sticks and cut one and pasted them down on a paper.

We took glitter glue and decorated the cross. Then we took little sequin circles and put that on the cross.

After, we left it out to dry.

During the craft I told her that Jesus died for our sins on the cross so we can be with God forever.

I tried to have her repeat

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ NIV)”

But it was a long verse. I guess we shouldn’t pick such a long verse for a first verse to memorize at 3 years old. But it helped when I showed her the text and she was able to read a couple words.

Our task today for the Easter countdown was to make a cross craft and memorize a verse.

I love that this makes us set aside some time to talk, get creative, and be reminded of what Jesus did and what he means to us.
