The Great Art Wall Project - Part 4: Quote Project

In all my apartment rearranging, I decided to get rid of tons of stuff, including a few boxes of books. Before my last box of give-aways went out the door, I decided to keep a few of the chewed up ones (I used to own a rabbit who chewed anything paper or wood based) for art projects. I ripped out a few pages (reluctantly at first, being an English major and all) and attempted to tea stain them. I followed the instructions on a website but I found it didn’t really work well so I just left a bunch of paper in tea over night. They didn’t get very tea stained. I hear that coffee staining works better – I’ll try that next time. Once I get an idea for a project, I like to get on with it so I can be a bit impatient with things that take multiple days for prep but I know it would be worth it if I did. Anyway, I dried my slightly tea stained papers and ripped them up and modge podged them to the glass in a dollar store frame. I wanted to put a quote in black on the collage but couldn’t find one short enough to paint on myself. I came across some quote stickers and decided to use one of them instead. The whole thing seemed a bit bare though so I added butterfly stickers and pearl stickers. I painted the frame black but wasn’t satisfied with it so I added a streak of silver. Here’s what it looks like at the moment.

As it is.

As it is.

I’m not completely satisfied with it yet but I don’t know what to try next. I don’t like the silver on the frame and I’ll probably repaint it black again. I also feel like it’s still a bit bare/plain. Feel free to post ideas if you are inspired.
