My husband often wears suits, so I wanted to make him a fun alternative to the store bought ties.
I found this pattern on a Danish blog: http://ift.tt/1C6ZyVJ
It got a little big at first, so I altered the pattern a bit. So if you try it you may also have to alter it, depends on how firm you crochet.
This is how the first one turned out
Here’s the pattern, hope the translation is easy to understand.
First you will need some fine cotton yarn, and a crochet hook that fits, I used a 2,5 hook.
Now you can start crocheting. :-)
First you make 22 regular masks (or as broad as you want the with of your butterfly). Then you will just continue with rows in single crochet, until you reach the double of how long you want the butterfly to be. Approximately 88 rows. Just make sure it’s even.
If you want stripes you alter the color every 4 row, besides the two middle rows that are made of 8 rows each. (That’s were the butterfly will be folded).
Maybe the picture is more useful than the explanation. :-P
Now you have to stitch in the lose ends and crochet the middle ribbon.
The ribbon is made by 8 regular masks and the 24 rows of single masks.
Now you fold the butterfly so that the to ends reach the middle of the backside. Then the front will be all smooth and perfect ;-)
Now you tuck it down in the middle and take a long black ribbon to go around the neck, you place the black ribbon on the back of the butterfly and the small crocheted ribbon around both the butterfly and the black ribbon.
Stitch it together on the backside, and voilà :-D
