The before…
The vision..
I have ordered fabulous hangers from the etsy shop of Pearls and Pastries and love them! They are nice and sturdy and so cute!
I wanted to “recreate” this for two reasons. 1. To save money! I would love to have a fabulous closet full of these! 2. To get a “smoother” finish on the hanger, so they don’t snag.
The process…
My idea was to take Mod Podge (I used the Gloss finish) and mix it with a high concentration of glitter and do multiple coats until I get the desired look. After a Pinterest run through and and reading the Mod Podge bottle, I decided to leave about 15 minutes between each coat.
The first coat
I was already questioning if this was going to work. It didn’t look terrible, it just wasn’t the amount of the glitter that I wanted yet.
The second coat…
Some of my doubts started to subside after this coat! It was starting to look like a messy version of a pure glitter hanger!
Third and forth coats…
By now I was struggling it had been over an hour and I was still on the first side…ugh.
So, I decided to start on a second hanger to fill in the waiting “dry” time.
And THE FINAL REVEAL!
SURPRISE! ππ
I gave up on that glitter thing…
After 3.5 hours and SEVEN coats of glitter, dry, glitter, dry, glitter, dry, glitter, dry. I could not do anymore and gave up.
BUT I love what I ended up doing! I took a piece of scrapbook paper and mod podged that sucker onto a wood hanger and all in less than an hour!
Long story short, Pearls and Pastries etsy shop …take all my money.
