DIY Jewelry: Safety Pin Bracelet and DIY crafts

I inherited the craft of jewelry making from my grandmother; ever since I can remember she has made jewelry and sold it as one of her major incomes. She taught me the basics of how to use the tools and materials. She got me started in jewelry making, and I find it to be a wonderful craft because you can display your beautiful work of art right in your outfit. Now, my grandmother dabbles all sorts of complicated bead weaving and wire working to make beautiful jewelry, but her pieces take days to complete. I, having a little less patience, prefer to make jewelry that can be made and worn in a few hours or less. The craft project I did today is a wonderful example of just such an item. This safety pin bracelet was easy to make and I recommend it to any amateur crafters like myself looking for a quick easy cute project to do to get in your crafting fix for the day.

All you need are some small beads, safety pins, and clear stretchy string like you used to use making friendship bracelets from kits when you were a kid. You may also want some super glue on hand in case the knots in this string don’t want to hold.

Open the safety pins and fill them with beads.

Until you have quite a few. They have to fit around your wrist sideways, so you need quite a few, but you can always make more if you need to.

Start stringing the safety pins onto a loop of string about six inches longer than twice your wrist to make sure you have enough room. String the pins through the holes on each side and keep all the bead sides of the pins on the outsides. Do this until its long enough to fit on your wrist without falling off, and and around your hand with some stretching.

Tie the two strings at the end of the bracelet to the loop at the other end and add a little dab of superglue on each knot to add durability. Then just tuck the ends of string into the bracelet and trim.

I think mine turned out great, and I hope you liked the idea. I’ll be posting more crafts soon.
