DIY Designer Sunglasses: Dollar Store Crafts and DIY crafts

IMG_9013

If this post does nothing else, maybe it will inspire you to get crafty. I decided one day this summer to decorate my generic dollar store sunglasses. I made a couple more for friends. I have a couple listed for sale in my Etsy store, but if you’d rather save a buck or two and make them yourself, here’s how:

I gathered together:

  • Beads

  • Elmers Glue

  • Glitter Tulip Paint

  • Swarovski crystals

  • Masking Tape

Decide where you want your design. I masked off where I wanted my beads and added Elmer’s glue. IMG_9003 IMG_9004

Then, I stuck pressed the temple down into a flat surface covered with beads.

I let it dry for 24 hours, added a stripe of glitter fabric paint, painted more lines on the design to sides and front. It came out a little messy, but I just covered it up with more bling: Swarovski AB crystals.

I love them. I wear them all the time. The beads held up really well, too- considering I used craft glue. Whatcha think?

I don’t even mind when Shorts borrows them. After all, they were only $1!
