How to spruce up old furniture hardware and DIY crafts

Dear Goldie,

I’m so glad you like the magnets! That Korean Sushi looks absolutely delish — if only *that* could go in the mail!

I have a fun find to share with you today. I was super excited to discover this cool product.

I love to hunt down unique old furniture pieces on Craigslist and spruce them up so that they’re beautiful again and personalized to our style. I won’t bore you with another tutorial about how to repaint vintage furniture because there are already so many great ones on the internet, but I do want to share a way to take your DIY furniture refinishing projects to the next level — update the hardware!

I can’t believe I’d never heard of Rub ‘n Buff before (the name makes me giggle!) after all of the furniture I’ve redone in my time, but it really is such a cool product. It’s a wax metallic finish that you rub onto metal hardware to change its color!

It’s super easy to do and it only took me about half an hour to change six pieces of my dingy brass furniture hardware into pretty gold loveliness. It makes a huge impact on the drawers of the vintage vanity I repainted, don’t you think?

Hopefully I’ll get to show you the whole piece once I have it finished and styled (I want to get a strip of vanity lights to hang above it like a theatre dressing room!), but I wanted to share this cool crafty product with you because I think it’s so useful to help turn a drab furniture piece into something fab. It comes in a ton of colors, but I chose gold because it’s so glam!

Looking forward to drooling over more of your Korean food posts!

Love,

Kate
