Who would know growing up as a girl that the makeup you loved watching your mom put on was tested on your best friend?
You can get a red carpet look using great products that are all cruelty-free. Each year hundreds of companies test on thousands of animals. Now I’m not saying to get rid of everything in your house. I’m guilty of this as well, but I’ve chosen to cut out one lifestyle need at a time, starting with my makeup products. There are many beautiful cruel-free beauty products; I’m going to show you some of my favourite beauty products.
This green and gold look was done using all cruel-free products that can be found at any local Rexall or Sephora. They are reasonably priced and are great quality products.
Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow in Dark Brown and Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit (Sephora)
Anastasia Soare born in Romania, attended school for art and later to become an esthetician before coming to America. Her Romanian root made her very passionate about eyebrows. This passion, lead Anastasia to create a perfect eyebrow technique for all bone structures.
Kat Von D Lock-it tattoo concealer and Kat Von D Por Vida blush & Kat Von D Autograph eyeliner
(Sephora)
Tattoo icon Kat Von D created this make up line as a tattoo cover up. After her advertisement with all her tattoos covered up, this product became a favourite to many makeup artists.
Urban Decay Vice Palette and Makeup setting spray
(Sephora)
Urban Decay was created when pink, red and beige enslaved the prestige beauty market. After not being able to choose a cosmetic colour of her choice cofounder, Sandy Lerner would create it herself.
Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes mascara
(Sephora)
Created in her one bedroom apartment, CEO Maureen Kelly was on a mission to create a makeup line with skin care benefits. At the time everything on the market was filled with synthetic and unhealthy ingredients.
NYX Butter gloss – Éclair (Rexall)
NYX Cosmetics, named after the ancient Greek goddess who ruled the night, created by Toni K who desired to create and share a line of cosmetics that provided quality products at approachable prices.
With so many beauty products on the market, you may be wondering how do I know these products are cruelty-free? I didn’t Google each products individually that’s for sure. I was inspired during an assignment. The Freedom Beagle Project is an organization that helps save these laboratory animals and find them loving homes. They created an app called Cruelty-Cutter ; It allows consumers to scan a product using its barcode or search for a cruelty-free option.
Meet Cocoa!
Meet Cocoa! She’s my dog and I couldn’t imagine a life like that for her. So next time you put on you favourite makeup or beauty product think about what animal helped with the making.
